View from a Hilltop Jessica Dunn
Jessica Dunn is a British artist based in Portugal. Born in London, with family roots in theatre and television, her own artistic path took her to painting. After her art foundation, at Kingston Polytechnic, Jessica relocated to the Algarve with her family, where she paints full time, predominantly in oils, at her studio, up in the hills of Boliqueime.
Her inspiration comes from her natural surroundings, the landscape and intense southern light. Her art is deeply connected to the environment. She creates abstract impressions of land, sea and sky, moving back and forth between landscape and abstraction. Using bold brushstrokes, in a vivid palette, with the occasional flash of gold leaf, her paintings exude light and warmth,
“ I want the visual experience to become an emotive one, giving the viewer an illusion of being immersed in nature, of walking into a painting and feeling lifted.”
In the UK, Jessica Dunn exhibits regularly at The Other Art Fair in London and at The Sanctuary Gallery, in Gloucestershire. In Portugal she exhibits at Tavira d´Arts Gallery. She is a member of the Quinta Art Collective and her work can be found in the museum collections of Guarda and Loulé.
