Where the Mawddach flows Bron.Jones
Bron sketches en pléin air, working in the landscape making huge marks quickly, on large sheets of paper, capturing glimpses, first impressions and feelings of sounds, textures and shapes. Moving around the paper recording the landscape from different perspectives and creating blind memory sketches back in the studio enables her to further abstract aspects of the landscape that resonate. Bron works in a variety of media on paper, canvas and panel: scratching and sanding through the layers to expose what lies beneath to create subtleties of texture and colour that add to the overall feel of the painting. Bron enjoys experimenting with marks, often with materials found on her walks, and working intuitively without an end design in mind, striving to bring the spontaneity of nature into her creative process, to evoke that sense of place.
“I love our wide Welsh vistas, yet it is so often the view from the bottom, looking up at the awe-inspiring shapes, textures and colours that call me to paint: high horizons evoking the immensity of the landscapes and that sense of place.
