All Things Bright & Beautiful

The Sanctuary Studio & Gallery heralds the arrival of summer with a vibrant exhibition of bright and beautiful art. Curated with colour in mind, the collection includes still life and landscape paintings alongside ceramic and glass works in playful forms and palettes.

Kerry Louise Bennett’s paintings are inspired by curious juxtapositions of colour and intriguing objects, from the beauty of an old chair to brightly painted pots and strange plants. Amanda Bee’s landscapes explore the spirit of special places, from the rolling golds of Wiltshire’s hills, to the ocean blue of Cornwall and the pinks and purples of rural Italy. Sharon Harvey’s use of cobalt, teal, blue, green, gold and yellow ochre lend a wonderous quality to her sweeping, painterly scenes of valleys, ocean estuaries and coastlines. Wendi Wellerreimagines interiors, landscapes and floral subjects in works that express the lively personality of places and things. Andrea Curtis explores colourful still life and floral subjects, as well as the stories told by simple collections of everyday objects. Gaynor Leverett Jaques paints florals and abstracted landscapes that express feeling through the language of her palette. Belinda Millar’s plein air landscapes begin with a fluorescent pink ground, which dazzles from beneath all other colours.

Camilla Ward’s paintings and ceramic works embrace pure, vivid colour, exploring all things Abstract through a spontaneous approach to her palette, and Graham Williamson throws ceramic vessels on the wheel in white stoneware, which adds vibrancy to the brightly hued glazes, slips and pigments he applies.
