Anne Haworth Mid Century Jug II
Anne trained as a textile designer at art school in Liverpool, where she first discovered the freedom and expressive potential of printmaking—a medium that has shaped her creative journey ever since. Drawing has always been at the heart of her process, serving as the starting point for developing ideas inspired by still life, landscapes, reference books, and personal experiences.
With a background in printed textiles and theatre design, Anne has long explored the interplay of image and narrative. Her work is deeply rooted in storytelling, weaving together themes of memory, identity, and human experience. These narratives often take form through relief printmaking—linocuts, card prints, and colographs—which allow her to distill complex ideas into playful, simplified compositions.
Influenced by folk art traditions, Annes style is characterized by bold shapes, textured surfaces, and a sense of spontaneity. She embraces the tactile qualities of relief printing—the patterns, textures, and the “controlled accidents” that lead to unexpected discoveries and new directions.
Now a member of the Gloucestershire Printmaking Cooperative in Stroud, Anne continues to experiment with various techniques, from monotype to linocut. Anne says "Though my creative journey begins with drawing and relief prints, my final images are screen printed, bringing together process and precision in a medium that unites all elements of my practice".
