Belinda Millar On the Table
Belinda Millar is a predominantly en plein air landscape artist based in Oxfordshire. Her love for the outdoors echoes in her practice, working physically in the landscape on expressive pieces which capture the movement and feeling of a day. Each piece is a testament to the ever-changing light, shifting horizons, and the immersive experience of painting outdoors, which allows Millar to connect with the natural world in a multisensory way. Belinda chooses always to work on a fluorescent pink ground, which injects a sense of play and a luminous glow to the work. Bold brushstrokes, and vibrant colour palettes feature heavily in her wok- shifting and changing along with the seasons.
Belinda trained at UCA Epsom, specialising in illustration. Belinda now exclusively focuses on painting, working in both acrylic and oil.
“Painting plein air allows for editing of a place, deliberately choosing to leave out structures in the majority of my work, forcing the focus to remain on the land and nature rather than manmade elements.”
