Camilla Ward Vessel. CRW23/18
Camilla has a BA(hons) in Fine Art and Ceramics from the University of Gloucestershire and then studied for an MA in Ceramics at Wolverhampton University. Camilla has exhibited extensively and has been a member of the Gloucestershire Guild
Like many artists Camilla’s work comes from her immediate life and wider experiences, however mundane or exciting. She filters through sketches, photos and simply absorbing. This develops in an abstract and painterly way onto the surface, either clay or canvas, using various techniques - incising, impressing, adding, removing, scratching, sanding, collaging, the curiosity is endless. She loves colour and line and the simple, sheer physical nature of paint and clay, this is fundamental to the work. Camilla loves to experiment and this becomes the challenge not to overwork the surface. She attempts to curb her enthusiasm and use experience to edit and hold back, to allow space and, hopefully, invoke curiosity, even intrigue, for the viewer to make their own sense of the work that lasts.
