Graham Williamson Small Flared Bowl
Graham attended York School of Art in the 1960s and then Cardiff School of Art, graduating in 1971. He then worked as a Ceramic Technician at both Colleges. In 2009 he established his studio practice in Gloucestershire.
His work comprises of bowls, vessels and lidded forms and all are made with the precision and detail which utilise the inherent refinement lent by porcelain. The pieces are turned, thrown and fired to 1260/80 in an electric kiln. After years of working with reduction glaze and firing in a gas kiln Graham changed to oxidised firing which he believes gives the work a more contemporary feel. Clarity of form and technical proficiency are important elements of the work and have always resonated strongly for him.
"I particularly enjoy the turning process at the leather hard stage to refine the forms and produce pieces which have clean lines and strong profiles"
