Dawn Stacey Winter Poppies
Dawn Stacey studied Textile Design at Derbyshire Art College. Dawn explored print, knit and weave and later developed her paintings incorporating textured paint surfaces with a strong narrative that led her to study for an MA in Sequential Illustration at Brighton University.
Paintings are based on her experience in the landscape evolved from walks around her nature reserve and woodlands absorbing the changing seasons. She has always had an interest in gardening, developing her love of plants and flowers, a few years ago she gained a City of Guilds of Horticulture that enabled her to study the growth and detail of plants, regularly sketching on her allotment.
Her paintings have derived from an interest in connections between family members or friends while out observing perhaps a mother and daughter sharing a moment together in a woodland, nature reserve or walking along a path on a journey together. She loves to create many textured layers of acrylic paint on canvas incorporating textures and imagery of perhaps a frosted leaf, embedded flowers or a glowing lake reflection.
The final piece is intended to capture a vision of a dreamlike mysterious landscape with a feeling of stillness and peace.
Dawn has painted professionally for many years in her studio and exhibited widely throughout the UK.
