Gaynor Leverett-Jaques Shining Bright
Gaynor Leverett-Jaques lives and works in the South West of England, taking inspiration from her surroundings and career to create big, bold, evocative blooms. On her route to nearly 20 years as a full time artist Gaynor enjoyed a varied career which has aided her artistic direction.
Since returning to full time art practice Gaynor has furthered her own artistic development through investing in a series of intensive courses, workshops, mentorships and programmes and enjoys experimenting with other mediums. This rich catalogue of knowledge inspired Gaynor to have many joint exhibitions in Bath, Bristol and Cheltenham and a solo exhibition in Bristol. She is represented at Affordable Art Fair, has shown at Saatchi’s The Other Art Fair in London and Manchester Art Fair. She has also co-hosed an award nominated podcast for artists ‘Artchatter’ since 2021.
For this series of blooms Gaynor has painted in response to the personality and symbolism of each flower, reflecting the emotions and colours to produce strong and life-affirming work. While her subjects may have many meanings, they have been chosen for the collective meaning of long life, friendship, loyalty, strength and positivity while still owning their own individual qualities, a lovely example of this is the gladioli of ‘Shining Bright’ which celebrates long commitments and enduring love – even more specifically 40 years together.
