Kerry Louise Bennett Freshly Cut
Cheltenham-born artist Kerry Louise Bennett works from her studio in Sheffield, painting vibrant, characterful paintings that reimagine the micro-narratives of the everyday through wild colours and bold, joyful shapes. With a background spanning photography, upholstery and the written word, her work celebrates a love of pattern and texture, storytelling and a fascination with the idea of ‘home’. Her semi-abstract still lifes and interior scenes are woven from memory, observation and imagination— playful compositions that honour domestic rituals, shared moments, and the quiet magic of the mundane.
“I make paintings that celebrate the gentle strangeness and quiet beauty of ordinary life. As someone who is naturally introverted and drawn to the comforts of home, I’m fascinated by the small rituals, objects and moments that often go unnoticed — the kinds of things that linger in the corner of your eye or in the back of your mind. Working from memories, daydreams and observation, I use bold colour, pattern and playful shapes to reimagine these fragments into something new. My work is a way of making sense of the world — with humour, curiosity, and a great appreciation for the poetry of the everyday”
