Andy Lovell’s work as an illustrator and printmaker is rooted in direct observation—creating drawings and paintings from life that are later reimagined through the medium of print. These initial sketches aim to capture the essence of a place, which Andy then translates in the studio using the expressive, immediate qualities of screen printing and monotype. Both processes lend themselves to gestural and often boldly graphic interpretations of his visual impressions.
His printmaking is represented by galleries across the UK, while his illustration practice spans a wide range of commercial commissions in publishing, editorial, advertising, and design.
