Claire Leach (b. 1988) is an artist based in Hampshire, U.K. Claire’s inspiration is drawn from landscape, memories and nature with a particular focus on woodland. A favourite location to depict is The Royal Forest of Dean on the English/Welsh border which is a location that holds many special childhood memories and always leaves a feeling of magic and wonder.
Claire uses photographs to aid composition and with ink and brush, watercolour or pen and pencil Claire builds an image using a variety of repetitive patterns and marks, with an aim to capture detail and an impression of a landscape. The work is by no means realistic but aims to capture the spirit of the place, with particular emphasis on light and detail.
Claire graduated with a BA (Hons) degree in Fine Art (Painting and Drawing) at the University of Gloucestershire and an MA degree in Fine Art at Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton.
